The feedback from customers is overwhelmingly positive. Paul McKay describes it as a "spectacular restaurant for lunch," particularly enjoying the Penne Gorgonzola and the artichoke dip. Robert Moody calls it "one of the best pizzas" he’s ever tasted—and his praise for the slight smokiness of the pizza crust showcases the authenticity of the wood-fired process.
On a recent visit, I was charmed by the welcoming ambiance and swift service. From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine smiles and quick order assistance. The temperature of my dishes was just right, and each bite of the toasted bread at Smashing Tomato was heavenly. I particularly appreciated how attentive the staff was; the manager stopped by to ask about my experience, underscoring a commitment to customer satisfaction.
Even on busy days, where the atmosphere can get lively, the sense of community and friendliness remains palpable. As Jordan Yoshimine noted, the service here is exceptionally warm. My personal favorite, the wood-fired pizza, was a standout, boasting rich flavors that left me eager for the next visit.

Spectacular restaurant for lunch. Super fast, awesome food. Penne Gorgonzola was delicious!! Great artichoke dip too and pizzas.
It's absolutely one of the best pizzas I have ever had. Brick oven cooked with wood, giving the pizza a slight smokey hint and small charing to the dough and cheese adds even more depth in flavor. We get the family special most of the time and eat the leftovers for lunch the next day. Fantastic warmed up. The only con is that when they are busy, it can be a little load, but that might just be me.
This is my first time dining in to Smashing Tomato. As you walk in the environment is very smooth and casual. When you walk up to order you are greeted properly with a smile and courtesy when you are asked for your order. You have the ability to check the QR code or use a menu. I tried the tomato soup in the artichoke dip for the first time. The temperature was great on both items! The toasted bread on both items was delicious as well. I was also greeted by the staff in leadership on how my visit was today. I also found out how some of the ingredients are made as well.
Had been to the Fayette Mall location and were impressed. We were on a trip south on 75 and decided to try the Hamburg location. We were not disappointed. I feel like service here was friendlier than Fayette. They were friendly and helpful. Pizzas came out quickly. Got the Artichoke Dip and it was definitely presented in well and tasty too. The woodfired pizza was, of course, amazing. We will be back!!!!!
The food was great and without even asking after our pizza came out a little dark in one spot which we were fine with, another pizza was brought out to our able. They said the manager wanted to send us out another pizza to replace ours since he noticed it was a little over done. We never even mentioned anything about it he just wanted our experience to be great. That’s true customer service!! Plus the staff was super nice. Will definitely go back if we come back to this area again.
Jewdy & I were looking for a place to have lunch Friday and saw this place and decided to stop in knowing nothing about it. I'm not often surprised by a place but I was by this one. The food was excellent, service was great, (although we placed an order from our table with our phone which is the suggested way to order at your table) but what surprised me most was the presentation and quantity of their food! We both had a small salad and Jewdy had artichoke dip and I had a tomato bisque and everything was served with what they call "Sheet Music Bread" ! The small salad was as much as we could possibly eat. If you have not tried this place, you are missing out!
Some of the best pizza I've had. The crust specifically is incredible and this place is so awesome they have what you need to make an amazing olive oil / balsamic dip to use that crust on. I loved this place so much I discovered it on a Tuesday and came back on Thursday. It's that good. If I lived closer I'd be there at least once a week.
One of the best pizza places in Lexington. Friendly staff. Half off wine bottles on Thursdays. Easy ordering through toast app or QR code at the tables. Great seasonal specials for pizza and salads. Very reasonably priced.Bob appetite!
